The Solano County Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is accepting nominations to recognize students, community members, and district staff who have gone above and beyond in service of students with disabilities within the Solano County SELPA regional boundaries: Benicia, Dixon, Fairfield-Suisun, Travis, Vacaville Unified School Districts, and the Solano County Office of Education, during the 2023-24 school year.

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a group of parents, educators and community members who are concerned with the educational needs of children with disabilities. The Solano County CAC serves in an advisory capacity to the Solano County SELPA regarding community opinions, concerns, and suggestions pertaining to special education and related services to students with disabilities.

The CAC also serves as an advisory body to the Solano County SELPA administration regarding the development and review of the Local Plan, as well as any policy additions or revisions. CAC also assists with parent education and in recruiting parents and other volunteers to support activities on behalf of individuals with exceptional needs. LEA representative members also have the responsibility of forwarding pertinent information from the CAC to their local boards and to assist in parent awareness of the importance of school attendance.

The CAC sponsors events and activities designed to celebrate our successes in supporting the education of students with disabilities. The CAC provides legislative advocacy on issues affecting services to students with disabilities. The CAC provides information to parents about special education legislation, and special education related services for children with disabilities.
